The Spencer James Group was established in 2003 to provide executive search services to the employee benefits industry. The firm was created with the principle of putting clients' interests first. We believe our clients' needs are simple: a search firm that listens to their requirements, understands their business and delivers the best candidates in the shortest time frame.

As senior search consultant and the founder of The Spencer James Group, Steve Faulkner has fostered relationships with leading insurance organizations around the country, representing them in finding top sales and account management talent. Steve's chief goal is to meet and exceed his clients' goals by identifying and placing the best possible candidates within their organizations. Equally important is helping to place candidates in opportunities that will allow them to reach their goals faster.

Steve is well-suited to this role given his unique background in both employee benefits sales and recruiting. His experience includes over eight years in the employee-benefits industry in the San Francisco Bay Area. As a Group Sales Representative for GroupAmerica, then Standard Insurance Company, Steve was responsible for selling ancillary lines through the broker/consultant community. During his following three and a half years as a producer with Acordia, he was responsible for building a book of business. He helped clients with all of their benefits from health insurance to ancillary lines to pensions.

Steve then moved into international executive search in London, England where he worked on searches throughout Europe. Fulfilling a lifelong desire to succeed at starting and running his own business, Steve founded The Spencer James Group in January 2003 to combine his intimate knowledge of employee benefits sales with his love of recruiting.

Steve received his degree in Business from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo where he was also an active member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. In addition to managing his business, Steve is a board member of the Denver Active 20-30, a local organization that raises money for 'at risk' youth in the Denver area. He is also a long-time member of Toastmasters International, where he enjoys public speaking on a variety of topics. He resides in the Denver suburbs with his wife and two young boys.
