What makes a candidate great?
If we take a step back from the resume and job description, we can review a checklist that can help us know when we may have a stronger chance of making a placement with one candidate over another.
Sizzle. Every candidate has something exciting about him or her that may not show up on paper. What exciting accomplishments have they achieved? Which industry guru is their mentor?
Relationship. Recruiters and candidates often have interesting ways of working together. Like anything else, there are people with whom we enjoy working and others with whom might be a bit of a struggle. This is why it’s always important to have a recruiter who works on your behalf, making your needs unique and paramount.
The Package. Is there an ideal fit? We take into account compensation plans, benefits, position title, upside and career growth potential, based upon what we’ve learned in the screening and interview process.
Communication. Most recruiters like to keep in close contact with their candidates. Quick response times and open and honest feedback are hallmarks of quality candidates.
Motivation. Exploring urgency and understanding why candidates are making a career change help to better prepare for any bumps in the hiring process. What is the candidate looking for, and can the company deliver? |
